Yes, I know, art can be written. I love the written word and once wanted to be a writer. I don’t write as well as I used to, but occasionally am still able to turn a phrase or two.

My current written works can be seen here (when I can be bothered to actually do something) and at our company’s website. I periodically write posts about beverages (of the adult kind), food, the business of food and beverage, and the like. It’s fun and I enjoy it, but I often get so caught up in my day to day dealings with work that I miss out on getting to write. Hopefully soon it will even out and I can get a few things out there.

This rag here is giving me fits at the moment. An age (or three) ago I coded the CSS for my site using my actual unicorn artwork I love so much, but somehow broke the coding and never went back in to fix it. I started using free templates which I have enjoyed to a lesser extent, but they’re still nice. However, I can’t seem to get everything working. Social media links, upgrades and the like are suddenly eluding my attempts to include them in my online slice of life.

Art is oftentimes our reaction to angst. Ooooo, idea…

A – Angst

R – Relief

T – Therapy

Truly disgusting. I can’t get a good schedule going for my own blog. I go hot and heavy for a month or so then it’s as if there’s a total freeze. Ugh.

I received an email from NaBloPoMo for September’s theme which is ART. Great subject for me. I think I’ll play. Again. But I’m not making any promises that I’ll keep up with it or past the month. So don’t bet on me.

If you come to read, thanks. And I apologize for not keeping you entertained. Hell, I haven’t hardly been on Facebook or Twitter lately either. Ugh (again).

So, ART. Yep. I’ve always been a creative soul. My art of choice as a young person was music. Primarily flute. I received my bachelor’s in flute performance. But I don’t do it any more. If I can find a way to digitize the tapes I have of my performances, I’ll happily share. Give me time, though.

Further musical art took me to bagpipes and Irish flute and penny whistle. Lots of fun, but again I didn’t keep up with it. More musical art took me to Boston to transcribe music into sheet music form. This took me to Orlando and to a job that fell through in the sheet music department of a huge entertainment company in that city.

Art took a backseat for a while after that. Bills were more important and a family came along. I always dabbled, though.

Now I work for a marketing company and my art has become designing themed menus for restaurants, bars, concessions, etc. I work with graphic designers to create aesthetically pleasing menus and other POS to entice you to eat and drink. And I love it.

More talk of art later… Hell I have 29 more days to share.

Speaking of sharing, let me know what kind of art you are into. (Nothing crude, please. All you underwear comment spammers, thanks but no thanks.)

Well, I didn’t make it all 31 days of January, but that’s okay. I got better at sitting down and writing something. And I’ll get better about my subject matter as well. I just didn’t anticipate being so worn out! Work is so much busier right now.

<sigh>

And Sailor Hubby’s foot is still on the mend… making for extra work at home, too. (and he hasn’t been the easiest of patients)

I have an idea to do a few things differently starting this month. I would like to continue Wordless Wednesday, hopefully with a picture from the week to give an idea of how my week is going. I’m thinking a Music Monday, sharing a favorite song every Monday (and no, it won’t always be U2 or “I Don’t Like Mondays”, but sometimes it might be). Then I was considering either some kind of recipe share on Fridays. I have a couple of cool cookbooks that once belonged to my Mom and thought a recipe a week might be fun. I’ll come up with some kind of title, like Foodie Friday. Yeah, I think that’ll work just fine.

So join me tomorrow for the first installment of Foodie Friday. I better go round up those books.

I haven’t made it EVERY day on this NABLOPOMO of mine, but I’ve only missed two and that’s not so bad. I get busy with all the other stuff in life and lose track of time. I guess that’s a sign to me I should try to do my post earlier in the day rather than so late at night, but night is better for me.

Anyway, I’m going to try damn hard not to miss any more AND to find things to talk about.

I have plenty of fodder, I’m just not quite comfortable with airing dirty laundry just yet. Sailor Hubby says it’s okay, that’s what makes for good blog reading, but I’m just convinced in my own head he is going to read it and get pissed.

Give me time. Maybe a couple more weeks. I’m getting there slowly but surely. This is going to end up being my therapist, I’m sure. A place to mentally and emotionally release.

I hope you’re ready.

I haven’t been around much over the past few months. It appears pre-baseball season is an extremely busy time for me at work. Meaning I’m on the computer staring at images and copy all day long and don’t want to do it when I get home.

And you can’t make me.

But I was under the impression that, as baseball season gets under way, my work would slow down a little and I wouldn’t be quite so busy. And that appears to have changed. I am picking up the same number of projects as I am completing, making me just as busy.

I want to be here as well, though. So I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and make an effort to be here, too.

Sorry I haven’t been visiting, or talking. I’ll start making a concerted effort to come around more often.

As some people are attached to their balls/boobs, and may not be quite so attached to their asses, I was asked to please come up with a third option. Below, you will now see a less risque “Comment your ass/butt off”. Enjoy!

***/Update***

Over at Dad Gone Mad Danny Evans has come up with a brilliant, low cost Christmas gift to give every blogger on your list. He is the brains behind Operation: Comment Your Balls/Boobs Off! (Depending on your gender.) It is a most fantastic idea. The concept is quite simple. Visit all of your favorite blogs, the up and coming blogs, the unknown blogs, any blogs you can find, and spread the comment love. Dad Gone Mad proposes that all bloggers appreciate comments, and comments are a time, not money, investment. A win/win for everyone.

So take part in Operation: Comment Your Balls/Boobs Off! (Depending on your gender.) this holiday season. And, if you so wish to advertise your role in Operation: Comment Your Balls/Boobs Off! (Depending on your gender.) here are a couple of badges you may use:

I simply ask that you not link directly to these pictures. Feel free to copy and use at will.

Happy commenting!

I took part in National Blog Posting Month in November. The premise behind NaBloPoMo is to post at least once a day every day for an entire month.

It was hard, and unfortunately I was not able to have a “meaningful” post every day, but I had a post every day.

November held my 100th post, which I will not yet link to as I want to clean it up some. It also held my Thanksgiving post, Hubby’s birthday post, and a post about a loved one who left us.

There was a lot of angst this month as well. And let me tell you, actually letting some of it out was rather cathartic. There will certainly be more of that.

One thing I had hoped blogging every day would do was to help me decide in what direction I want to take this. But no such luck. So I will keep writing whatever pops into my mind. I’m sure at some point a pattern will make itself clear.

So, I’m proud of myself for making it through. The frantic search for a WiFi signal in Charlotte, the late night posts, the tossing ideas together, the forgetting of ideas I really wanted to write about. Despite those things, I did it.

The rest I’ll figure out. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll sign up to do it again.

Tomorrow is my 100th post here. And I really don’t know how I’m going to come up with 100 things about me. I liked how Any Mommy did her 100 things. Her post was 10 x 10. Ten things about ten aspects of her life. I think that’s kind of cool. But I don’t want to seem lame, so I don’t know if I will copy it or not. You’ll just have to see tomorrow, which is when I will find out as well.

So, I have lots of prep to do. At first I thought it would be easy to come up with 100 things. But now that I am at 28, I’m afraid I’ll bore the one or two real readers I actually have out there.

Well, stay tuned. We’ll see what happens together.
