Yay… it looks like we are. And now that it is even later, I will sum up what I took 311 words to say earlier.

I’m back
My son and I will be baking cupcakes from a kit (a Yule gift) and uploading our kitchen hi-jinks weekly
Work is great but crazy. Still LOVE what I do. But 2012 is the year of moderation. No more 10PM nights for me and my team.
I am writing a book series. No, really, I am.
I will be using this spot for fun, release of frustration, etc. If you are family or friend, and I allude to you here (no names will ever be used) I am JUST BLOWING OFF STEAM. Everyone needs a way to do it. This is mine. I love you, you love me, allow me my area to do my thing.

Less than half the words I used before. HAH!

Here’s to 2012. Let’s make it great (or at least better than last year.)

Preparations

I’ll be going out of town on Saturday for a working trip to Yosemite. I’ve been preparing… coloring my hair, taking clothes to the dry cleaner, trying on clothes to take with me.
And that last is the perplexing part. I have lost about 50 pounds since January first. My favorite denim jacket still fit me when it was cool enough to wear it, but now? Not so much. Let me reiterate… my FAVORITE denim jacket.
{sigh}
I guess I’ll have to try on everything I don’t wear on a regular basis to see if it is still workable.
Don’t know if I should smile or frown, laugh or cry.

Momentum

I am cranky. And tonight is going to be random shit that’s in my head night. Wallow in the craziness.

I’m happy I have made it here 16 nights in a row. I think I should take part in NaBloPoMo every month. Though I should have better things to talk about. Maybe I’ll structure something for next month.

It appears I am a horrible daughter. I missed the fact that Sunday was Grandparents’ Day. Not that we’ve ever REALLY celebrated it, but I’ve usually tried to acknowledge it at least. And I didn’t this year.
I suck.

I went to the Art Institute of Atlanta graduation portfolio viewing tonight. It was pretty cool getting to see what our “youth” are doing out there in the art education arena. I look forward to seeing some of it in the “real world” at some point as well.
I would LOVE to see one of them completely go outside the box, though. Imagine, 10 students in a room all trying to show off how they are great at what they do, how much they’ve learned over the past 4 years, how they stand out and can help you stand out. Then imagine ALL of the portfolios being essentially the same.
Don’t misunderstand me. I understand there needs to be some kind of uniformity in what is presented to make sure the scope of what they’ve been taught is covered. And I saw the difference in each students work, their own flair added here and there. But nothing screamed at me, because it was all tamed down to a set group of ideas they had to present. Bummer.

I worked really hard this afternoon to pull myself out of the panic attack that threatened. It was a close call, but I came back from the precipice and moved forward. The next one might not be quite so easily defeated.
Maybe I’ll video it and share. Or not. I have stage fright.

The Apprentice started tonight. I thought it was at 10, but was at 9, so I missed it. Damn.

There are not enough hours in the day anymore. And I have not received my clone yet.

Well, not really. I was hoping we could gloss over this aspect of parenting with Munchkin, but it appears we can not. The epic battle of “work vs. play” is raging here in the Spellweavers IRL domain. Wish me luck that work ethic will eventually win out.

It is Sunday night before Labor Day Monday and I don’t have much to say.

You see, I stayed up entirely too late last night watching a stupid “horror” movie (Scream 2) and then spent the afternoon at my Da’s house swimming and eating hamburgers and hot dogs. So now all I want to do is crash.

No one says I can’t, it just seems that 8:45 is entirely too early for a grown woman to wuss out and go to bed. But wuss I will.

Tomorrow we’ll pick this all back up with a Musical Monday and keep moving forward.

Whipped

My ass is thoroughly whipped.

Between work (and more work, and even more work), typical home needs and Sailor Hubby’s surgery and subsequent gimpy foot, I can’t turn around without knocking down 50 more things added to my “To-Do” list.

I was so proud of myself last week. I stayed a little late at work and cleared out my email, made a “To-Do” list, moved all loose papers into their appropriate files, updated my project board. And today it appears all that was for naught. I keep falling further and further behind. I have crossed 2 things off my list, out of about 75, and it feels like I haven’t gotten anything accomplished because of the other 73 projects staring at me.

The house is thrashed. But that will have to wait till I get somewhat normalized.

And Sailor Hubby had foot surgery last week. He had the plantar fascia of his left foot repaired. I’m very happy it has been fixed, but it keeps him off his feet for a few weeks. And the pain meds are messing with his mind (as pain meds are wont to do). With the exception of going to bed at 9PM on Friday night, I haven’t had a true good night’s sleep since Wednesday.

Pretty soon I will be delirious.

P.S. My birthday is Wednesday. I am curious if it will be acknowledged. I’ll keep you updated.

Busy at Work

I have been crazy busy at work since New Year’s. The account manager I work with is out on maternity leave so I am working on my projects as well as keeping up with her items. I have been so engrossed in all I have to do, the days have been flying by. And I don’t mean the day seems a little shorter, I mean I get to work at 9:00AM and the next thing I know it’s 1:45PM and I haven’t even eaten lunch yet!

My desk is usually fairly organized, with all papers in folders, one folder per project, folders either stacked neatly as I go through them or in their appropriate slots. But this is what my desk has looked like for two weeks…

And I don’t see it getting better any time soon. So glad I love what I do.

An unfortunate by-product of being this busy is having to eat at my desk most afternoons. And having forgotten to pack something this morning, I ended up having to go out for a fairly healthy lunch. Today was Wendy’s.

I hate Wendy’s.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like their food most of the time. However, their help is for shit. I refuse to visit the store near my house for the sheer number of times they’ve effed up my order. The one near work has always been dependable. And I suppose they still are, unless you think something might be missing from my salad?

So off to bed I go. Not able to stay up late enough to listen to both hours of Chag’s Nameless Twitter Radio Show. (of course the fact I made time for the first time in 4 months to listen to the first hour should be impressive enough)

Time and Relativity

I can’t believe it is the 14th of January already. Time is just flying by! I know the theory, “if you keep busy it makes the time go by faster,” but this is absolutely ridiculous.

I don’t have enough hours in my day to do all the things I need to do. I think, if I can just find a way to organize everything just a little bit better I might get a better grip. Then maybe I won’t feel so tired and behind the eight ball all the time.

But until I find that golden median, I am tired and I am going to bed. After I put Munchkin to bed, make sure all the animals have what they need, lunches are made, clothes are ready, lights are off, blog post is done…

Nothing much to talk about. It has definitely been a Monday. Sinus infection, overslept, had to work late, dinner didn’t cook properly, I’m up too late.
But it’s almost over.
Time for bed.
Hopefully I’ll have something to talk about soon.

Not Much To Say

I don’t really have much to say today. Ended up having to work from home most of the day due to the icing over of the snow from yesterday. Got to listen to the kids whooping it up sliding down the hill on trash can lids. Got a kick out of watching people try to get up and down the hill in their cars before the ice melted enough to get by. All in all it was just another day.
