I found the COOLEST blog site design today, at least I think it is

Ali Felski is a graphic designer in DC. You can see her design here. I may go back to the drawing board, keep a couple of the elements here, but start fresh with backgrounds, icons, etc. I can’t do the cool mobile weather idea she’s got, but I can make the sections my own.

I started working with CSS a few months ago and got hooked on the CSS Zen Garden of ideas. You really pretty much can do anything if you know how to carve everything up and make sure you label everything and utilize the labels correctly. I tried once before and it didn’t quite work. But I’m willing to give it another go. So again, I apologize if over the next few weeks and months things aren’t working correctly or get moved around. I will find a way to do exactly what I want and make it happen.

That’s a promise to myself more than anything.

I am slowly getting there with my design. I took away the entire page background tile and have made it a nice neutral, easy to read color. I made the background parchment tile into a torn piece of paper and have it behind each post title. Took a couple of days to get it to look right, but the whole image, not just the part under the letters, seems to be working, finally. I think it will look better with a staple “holding” the torn parchment to the background. Another item to create. EEP!

I’m actually falling asleep while writing this one. It took a couple of times re-reading and fixing to make the above paragraph make any sense.

To BED!

I have become quite frustrated lately with trying to develop my own theme for my blog. I can design a site with no problem, and implement it fairly well, but designing and working with a blog is somehow beyond me.

I looked at many blog themes and found one developed for Blogger that I loved. I tried to adjust it for WordPress, but after 3 weeks, I threw my hands up in disgust. I found another that I liked that was supposedly designed for WordPress, but half the files were not included, making the whole blog completely wig out.

I decided to go with this one for now. It is a little darker than I would really like, but it is pretty. When I figure out how to develop my own…
