Thirteen Years and Counting

10 Jan 2010 In: Family & Friends

Well, so far we’ve made it 13 years. Yep, thirteen years ago today Sailor Hubby and I made our vows. Through thick and thin we’ve made it this far. Here’s to hoping and working towards another 13.

In celebration, we took a trip to a local winery which, contrary to the sign out front, was actually closed. It was pretty in a barren sort of way. We have decided to go back in the spring.

After the frigid trip to the closed winery, we rode around the occasionally slick roads of the North Georgia mountains, then went to dinner at a new (to us) Mexican restaurant around the corner. It was delicious.

Cheers!

Now, I am heading to snuggle time with Munchkin. Though he has no school tomorrow (the roads are still to slick for the buses in our area) we’re all a little tired and ready for quiet time.

**Note: I know I missed a day of NaBloPoMo. I am really pissed about that. My internet was down and we couldn’t get it back till today. GRRRRR.

Not Much To Say

8 Jan 2010 In: blah, blah, blah

I don’t really have much to say today. Ended up having to work from home most of the day due to the icing over of the snow from yesterday. Got to listen to the kids whooping it up sliding down the hill on trash can lids. Got a kick out of watching people try to get up and down the hill in their cars before the ice melted enough to get by. All in all it was just another day.

Snowfall

It snowed. It’s still snowing a little. Don’t believe me?

Back to Normal

5 Jan 2010 In: Random Thoughts

Things are starting to get back to normal around here. I’m back to work, Munchkin is back to school, Sailor Hubby is sporadically working. Normal.

Work is a little more intense, only because my account manager (read boss) is out on maternity leave. But even that is fine. I love what I do. Doing more of it or dealing with a new aspect of it is fine. It’s how I will grow and learn the skills to become an account manager myself one day. Normal.

Though there are things I wish were better… easier… … Ah, well. Normal.

It’s a new year. Full of dawning hope. Maybe normal can be better this year. No one says it can’t.

Ah, Back to Work

4 Jan 2010 In: Random Thoughts

I am pooped. Back to work today after 2 weeks off and I am actually tired. How does that work? I’ve mostly rested for 14 days, sat around watching TV, surfing the interwebs, reading and the mere act of going to work makes me tired? Ugh.

Well, tomorrow is the first day back to school for Munchkin, so at least I don’t have a reason to stay up later than his bedtime. Or at least not a valid reason. But I’ll probably play around here on my site, or online elsewhere. Maybe over there on Twitter.

But I should be sleeping and preparing for the second day back… because you know that will be an even tougher day.

New Toys

3 Jan 2010 In: Just a day in the life...

For Yule this year I got a new toy. Something I’ve been requesting for a couple of years now… a camera!!! Woot! It isn’t a major 35mm type professional thing, but it is an awesome 12MP that also takes videos.

I’m still trying to figure out how to work all the options. I’ve been using it since Christmas day and you can see the pictures I have taken over there in my Flickr stream. But today I thought I’d try the video feature. Though the camera did fine, due to my freezing brain, fingers, cheeks and watering eyes, I flubbed through the audio. But it was still COOL.

Here is my disaster of a video. Yes, I know it’s January 3rd. I’m also aware it is 2010. But at 28 degrees outside (I thought it was still up in the 30s) and dressed inappropriately as I was, you get inane ramblings. :)

Two in Two

2 Jan 2010 In: Just a day in the life...

No, I won’t be naming each post like this… I just actually impressed myself by making it on here two days in a row.

Had a fun day. After dropping my car off for new brakes, we stopped at Waffle House for a cheap, filling breakfast.

After that, Sailor Hubby decided to go for a drive. We ended up in Gainesville

after stopping at a small park for a few pictures and a stretch of the legs.

When we returned to retrieve my car, it only cost $65! I think I have finally found my mechanic. Sailor Hubby’s brakes are being done on Monday. Think happy thoughts that they won’t have to “pull off the hub”. That will triple the cost. Ugh.

1 Jan 2010 In: Blogging

In order to get myself back in the swing of things, I’ve signed up for NaBloPoMo. Now, November is the actual month set aside for this project, but you can try it at anytime. Therefore, to hold myself accountable, I have added my site to the blogroll.

I can’t promise that every post will be witty, fun, heart wrenching, or anything at all interesting to you, but it will get me back in the saddle of the blogosphere.

After all, as much as I love social media, I should be doing it much more.

Every Year

29 Dec 2009 In: Random Thoughts

Every year at this time I come back to my blog/journal saying, “I am going to do this again.” And every year I make it for a few weeks then drop for a month or so… go a couple of days… drop for a few weeks… and so on, ad infinitum. But I hope this year will be different. I have a few days to get myself prepared, then I will start on the 1st.

So, Happy New Year’s Resolution planning… maybe I’ll see you on the other side.
